Susan Mcleary of Passion Flower and I met a few years ago when I reached out to see if I could photograph some of her work, as I was looking to feature and network with local Ann Arbor wedding industry vendors. Since then I’ve had the honor of photographing some amazingly artistic and beautiful pieces of art. Both for fun and for multiple publications! It’s been so fun to challenge myself outside of wedding and portrait work to bring her creativity to life!

Most recently, Susan told me about this amazing idea of a floral arrangement that would mimic a floral sleeve tattoos. Of course, I could not wait to photograph Laporcshia wearing one of these handmade designs! This last shoot did not disappoint! If I was going to get a “tattoo,” one made of flowers sounds like a lot more fun than needles and ink!

I can’t wait for Susan to play more with this idea and see what kind of other amazing things we can create!

The idea for this Michigan Winter Voyage Wedding started with a photograph spotted in Elle Decor Magazine by Take A Seat Events, which featured a dapper library of maps, rich textures, and assorted shades of blue. We were in awe of the color combination and masculine-feel, and we were left with a feeling of wanderlust. This library inspired us to create a wedding that felt just as dapper, inviting and adventurous.

Take A Seat Events styled this preppy, modern wedding. All the details of this nautical-inspired editorial shoot were chosen to tell a story― the story that “Love Is the Greatest Adventure.” (See if you can spot where this quote was incorporated in the décor!)

The setting for this styled shoot was the perfect depiction of what Michigan is all about. As I was driving out to the shoot, I was feeling truly inspired by the fresh fallen snow and the amazingly clear blue sky. I instantly fell in love with the design and all of the small details. I also loved working with the couple―Jake and Jake! Not only are they handsome, but they are also so cute together. I loved getting to know them and capturing a little bit of their love for each other!

Reverie Gallery published this photoshoot on their blog! You can read more about it here.
